With more than a decade of experience in the public relations and marketing fields, Kirsten has performed all aspects of industry activities. Her diverse background includes marketing and media efforts in travel and tourism, economic development, real estate development, and sports marketing. Her varied expertise includes success at the local, regional and national levels.

Prior to launching PubHound Public Relations, Kirsten was the Media Relations Manager for Travel Michigan. Her responsibilities included development and implementation of local, regional and national media relations programs to support the Pure Michigan campaign. Under her direction, Travel Michigan realized a more than tenfold increase in total media placements and generated positive media in national outlets such as USA Today, National Geographic Traveler, The Today Show, Good Morning America and CNBC, in addition to numerous in-state and regional placements.

In addition, Kirsten also co-managed Travel Michigan’s social media efforts. The team’s projects included the launch of the Pure Michigan Connect blog, Pure Michigan Facebook and Pure Michigan Twitter. During that time the Pure Michigan Facebook presence grew to more than 100,000 fans, and Pure Michigan was named the top-ranked state tourism organization in the country for the use of social media.

During her time at Travel Michigan Kirsten worked with several Destination Marketing Organizations and statewide associations including the many Michigan Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Michigan Association of Recreational Vehicles and Campgrounds, the Michigan Snowsports Industries Association, Great Lakes Winter Trails Ski Council and the Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance.

Prior to moving back to Michigan, Kirsten was responsible for marketing, public relations and special events along Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. From planning to implementation, Kirsten successfully led a team of volunteers to execute The Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, an annual holiday event attracting more than 500,000 visitors to the area for the one-day celebration.
